This funding offers great opportunities for those within the community and can be applied for from anywhere throughout Australia.

Celebrate Culture This July

Australians Together Naidoc Information is one of the best resources for the details of the events that will be held during the first week of July when NAIDOC Week is celebrated. This week is focused on the Aboriginal history and culture of the Indigenous people in Australia. As part of this yearly event, there is a round of grants and funding that provides opportunities for Indigenous youth and for programs that will support them. This funding can be used for programs that will further education, that can support students in further learning, and for programs that will be instituted into schools and other spaces to provide advanced learning opportunities. The National Indigenous Australians Agency provides funding for NAIDOC events and will offer this support to local communities who are holding their own events. This funding covers the cost of the celebrations and will help to support the cost of NAIDOC events in any community. Grants must be applied for each year and must be used for these specific events.

Join the celebrations this July and share the experience with others in your city. There are celebrations across Australia, with the focus city hosting an awards ceremony, grants to support community events for the week, and more. Often parades and family-friendly events take place in local parks and public spaces. Everyone is welcome, and there are events that share the cultural history and experiences of the elders. These events work to bring the community together and to create unity among neighbors and friends regardless of their background. Listings of these events are included on the website for NAIDOC, as well as listings with your local council or through your town offices. Many events are scheduled throughout the week, and there is an opportunity for everyone to attend. The weekend will offer the biggest celebrations and allow the most people to attend, though there are often sporting events and tournaments throughout the week, family-friendly community meals, concerts, fairs, and more. For the entire week, the goal is to have the community gather, have people spend time together and share stories and experiences, and celebrate the history of their country. Every year on the first week of July, the NAIDOC events begin. They span the entire week, from Sunday to Sunday, and in 2022 they begin on July 3rd. Everyone is welcome to attend, and there are events every day of the week, with many being completely family-friendly and several of them being outside. If your community needs financial help to plan and execute its own events, there are several grants and funding available.
