5 Simple Tips to Have Better Nutrition Every Day

Must Read

You eat 3 square meals a day, so you probably feel like you get the right nutrition to power you up. But the fact is, almost everyone doesn’t get enough of vitamins D and E, and over 33% of Americans don’t get sufficient calcium, magnesium, and vitamin A.

So chances are, you need to up your daily nutrition.

Don’t know how to eat better? Then read on for 5 tips you can use to have better nutrition every day!

1. Eat Leafy Greens

The best choice here is salad mixes with dark greens in them. You don’t always have to eat salads either.

When you’ve had your fill of salad lunches, you can use the leftovers for sandwiches. You can also lay down a bed of greens for your steak or chicken.

2. Buy Frozen and Canned Produce

This might sound strange, but frozen and canned produce are actually packed with nutrients!

Frozen vegetables and fruits are picked and frozen when they’re at their peak. This means when you defrost and eat them, it’s as if you’re eating them fresh.

Also, canned tomatoes have more lycopene than fresh ones. Lycopene is terrific for heart health. Just make sure you get canned items with as little additives as possible, as well as sodium and sugar (syrups).

3. Eat Fresh Fruits

Fresh fruits are an excellent option you can replace for sugary and fatty desserts. Not only can they curb your sweet tooth, but they’re also packed with antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and fiber.

If you get bored of eating fresh fruit, you can always make smoothies or frozen yogurt with them!

4. Eat a Wide Variety of Foods

It’s important to eat plenty of veggies and fruits. But in addition, you should also get lots of lean meat, legumes, whole wheat, and some cheese. These can provide you with protein, minerals, fiber, zinc, calcium, and B vitamins.

Yogurt’s also good to have since it has wholesome probiotics, as well as vitamin D and calcium.

Mix and match all of the above for some creative and fun meals, plus healthy eating!

5. Take Multivitamins

Despite our best efforts, we sometimes just can’t get enough vitamins and nutrients through our food. Plus, some of our bodies can’t extract them efficiently.

To make up for this, you should take a good multivitamin. But first, speak to your doctor to see which ones are best for you. They might order a blood test to see exactly what you’re lacking in, then make a recommendation based on that.

In addition to all the above advice, you can check with the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) to find out more about nutrition science.
